Tomáš Pivoňka
Head of Audit and Compliance (ČEZ)
Since 2014, Tomáš Pivoňka has held the position of Director of the Audit and Compliance Department at ČEZ, a.s. Over the past 20 years, he has led numerous projects across Central and Southern Europe in internal audit, compliance, corporate governance, and strategic consulting. Tomáš has extensive experience in establishing, managing, and evaluating internal audit departments, having worked on nearly a hundred projects. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University in Brno and holds several international certifications, including Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), and certification for internal audit performance evaluations. Tomáš has dedicated a significant portion of his career to volunteer work and promoting the internal audit profession. From 2014 to 2024, he served as President of ČIIA and was also a member of the Board of the European Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors and Advocacy Committee of the International Internal Auditors Institute. He regularly lectures in the Czech Republic and abroad and publishes articles in professional journals.
Tomáš enjoys black coffee, red wine, poetry and music, early spring and late summer as well as most of the things between them. He’s devoted to raising two daughters and teaching yoga. He is an enthusiastic, though not-so-great, farmer—currently on a 200-year-old farm house in the Sudetenland.
